The making of this CD developed during the Limerick Year of Culture 2014 which has been a great success and wanting to make some small contribution, I recorded some popular songs of Limerick, the most popular of all being LIMERICK YOU’RE A LADY, written by Denis Allen. We also recorded THERE IS AN ISLE the popular anthem of the island parish of St. Mary’s, and finally a song of an emigrant wishing he were home …WHERE THE SHANNON RIVER MEETS THE SEA.

In 1966 we recorded this album to commemorate the 1916 Rising. The content is fairly martial and Mrs. Kathleen Connolly, wife of Jim Connolly who was leader of The Monarchs Showband at the time, was a native Irish (Gaelic) speaker and she recites the well-known Irish poem ‘Mise Éire’
